Faculty of Transformative Education
Atmiya University has constituted ‘Faculty of Transformative Education (FoTE) in the year 2022 to foster holistic intellectual growth and development among learners by nurturing Emotional Intelligence, Creative Thinking, Social & Life Skills, Ethical Values and Codes of Conduct through transformative learning. The Transformative Education aims to profoundly encourage students to critically analyse and question assumptions, aspirations, beliefs and values by fostering deeper understanding and integrating emotional, social, ethical & cognitive dimensions of learning. The transformative learning is scrupulously addresses today’s emerging need of humanize education by cultivating 10 Cs - Curiosity, Clarity, Character, Capability, Creativity, Commitment, Competence, Confidence, Courage & Compassion, and by fostering lifelong learning, resilience, active citizenship to attain human values like self-awareness, self-confidence, respect for excellence, balance between talent and personality, harmonious conduct and self-reliance.
Objectives of FoTE:
Facilitate hands-on learning, peer learning, fieldwork, mutual support and community engagement.
Help learners to understand their identities, aspirations and values.
Promote self-awareness, emotional intelligence, resilience and personal development.
Encourage holistic change in the learner’s thinking, behaviour and worldviews
Empower learners to address complex issues of the societies.
Instil an understanding of ecological interdependence and promotes sustainable living practices.
Equips students with the ability to develop new sustainable solutions to complex problems.
Produce knowledgeable, compassionate, reflective and active individuals in a rapidly changing world.
Encourages responsible citizenship at local, national, and global levels for sustainable living.
The Six Pillars of the Transformative Education at Atmiya University are as follows:
1. Reflective Practices: Encourages self-reflection and self-assessment for continuous improvement and adaptation.
2. Adaptive Skills : Cultivates the ability to adopt change or uncertainty and to promote lifelong learning.
3. Collaborative Learning: Emphasizes open and respectful dialogues among learners by sharing diverse perspectives.
4. Interpersonal Relationship: Encourages understanding, empathy and mutual respect to strengthen relationships.
5. Holistic Development: Integrates emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual aspects of learning
6. Sustainable Living: Fosters a sense of responsibility and interconnectedness with People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership (5 Ps).
1.School of Consciousness Development and Value Education (CDVE)
Vision
To cultivate reflective practices that allow individuals to understand one’s emotions, thoughts and behaviour through interactions, practices and experiences.
Mission
Integrate consciousness development and value education into the curriculum to promote a balanced development of intellectual, emotional, social and ethical dimensions of every human being. We disseminate knowledge to pursuit inner wisdom and promote virtues such as honesty, responsibility, integrity and humanity
2.School of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)
Vision
To shape the education by promoting, disseminating and revitalizing the India's rich and diverse traditional knowledge.
Mission
Systematically archive traditional knowledge, practices, and texts from various Indian cultures, ancient manuscripts, artefacts, and oral traditions for future generations.
We encompass the integration of ancient knowledge in fields such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Mathematics, Astronomy, Arts, Architecture and so on with contemporary
education to foster holistic development, cultural pride, and global relevance.
3.School of Sustainable Development (SD)
Vision
To create a dynamic and inclusive educational environment that empowers individuals and communities to lead and innovate for a sustainable future.
Our vision encompasses integrating sustainability into all aspects of education, research, and community engagement to address global
challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality.
Mission
Provide comprehensive and interdisciplinary education in sustainable development, integrating environmental, social,
and economic perspectives by developing academic programs and curricula that equip students with the knowledge,
skills, and values needed to address complex sustainability challenges.
We strive to implement sustainable practices and sustainable resource management on campus.
