"Atmiya University's Inspiring Efforts to Promote Values and Well-Being in Global South Countries"
I am honored to share our university's story about spreading good values and making lives better, especially in places known as the Global South. We want to tell you how we are trying to help students and people in these countries have better lives.
In many Global South countries, schools often focus too much on getting good grades, and students may not really enjoy what they are learning. They might not think much about what is right or wrong. Sometimes, students don't respect their teachers or traditions, and they might even argue a lot at home and in school. This can make them feel very worried, and they might have a hard time dealing with competition, which can make them angry or sad. People might not be very healthy because they eat too much and don't exercise. They could also become very focused on making money and having fun, and this can hurt their relationships and family life. Even after many years of studying, some students might still feel unsure about what they want in life and what is important.
To help with these problems, Atmiya University started something special in 2014-2015. We want to give students a more complete education that includes not just facts and figures, but also things like being a good person and understanding the world better. We started doing this because we believe it's really important, especially in Global South countries where these challenges are more pronounced.
Our way of teaching is based on the ideas of two important leaders, His Divine Holiness Hariprasad Swamiji Maharaj and Param Pujya Premswaroop Swamiji. We think it's essential to teach students not just what they need to know for school but also how to be good people who can make the world a better place.
We've done many things to make this happen. We've taught our teachers about these ideas so they can teach students better. We've also changed what we teach in our classes to include these important ideas, and we've given students practical tasks to help them understand these ideas in real life.
The results have been wonderful. Students have become better at thinking clearly and making better choices. They have also started taking part in activities that promote these ideas, which shows us they really care about them.
We didn't stop at our university. We shared our ideas with other schools and communities. We organized workshops and events to help them understand these important concepts too. This has been really helpful, and we've seen a positive change in many places.
We have worked with teachers, students, parents, and even people who work in industries and companies. We believe that when everyone understands these ideas, it helps society become stronger and kinder.
We've also seen that students who have learned these things have become closer to their families and feel happier. They've learned that it's not just about having things; it's also about being clear about what's important in life.
We know there have been challenges along the way, like making sure our teaching is clear and that we have enough teachers. But we've found solutions to these problems by training our teachers better and listening to feedback from our students.
To keep doing this important work, we need help in training our teachers, creating better classrooms, and getting the materials we need to teach these important lessons.
At Atmiya University, we believe that teaching good values and helping students understand the world better is not just something nice to do. It's something we must do, especially in Global South countries, to make our world a better place for everyone. Our journey is a story of hope and progress, and we're excited to keep making a difference.
My best wishes!
Warm regards
