The Department of Life Sciences at Atmiya University stands as a beacon of academic excellence, offering comprehensive programs that cater to a wide range of scientific interests. Our department provides undergraduate (BSc), postgraduate (MSc), and doctoral (PhD) programs in Microbiology and Biotechnology, ensuring a continuum of learning and research opportunities. Additionally, we offer a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques, equipping students with the practical skills needed for a successful career in the medical field.
Our faculty members are the cornerstone of our department's success, holding PhD and postdoctoral qualifications with extensive experience in both industry and academia. Their diverse expertise not only enriches the academic environment but also ensures that our students receive a well-rounded education that bridges theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.

The Department of Life sciences is committed to provide quality education to the students through progressive academic and research environment by nurturing scholarly progression, inquisitiveness, intellectual development along with human values.
Objectives
Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology programme is designed to impart experiential learning to the students to develop a desired workforce to combat ever increasing demand of medical lab technicians in the healthcare sector.
The main aim of the programme is:
- To provide skill oriented training and develop skilled students as qualified professionals in Medical Laboratory Technology and be ready to work in hospitals, research laboratories, public & private health facilities, industrial laboratories and colleges
- To get hands-on exposure in automated instruments and Laboratory Information Management Software (LIMS)
- To groom students in areas such as communication skills, Personality development, Leadership and IT skills
- To demonstrate competency to perform a full range of testing in the contemporary medical laboratory encompassing pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical components of laboratory services, including Hematology, Bio-chemistry, Microbiology, Body fluids, Molecular Diagnostics, Phlebotomy, Immunology and Blood Bank.
- To acquire administrative skills consistent with philosophy of quality assurance, continuous quality improvement, laboratory education, financial resource management and appropriate composure under stressful conditions.

PSO 1: Perform routine laboratory procedures and tests with acceptable quality control parameters in the areas of hematology, biochemistry, immune-hematology, and microbiology in clinical laboratory settings including hospital environment and diagnostic labs.
PSO 2: Efficiently execute well-designed research experiments, along with correct analysis and interpretation of clinical data contributing to right treatment, patient safety and organizational proficiency.
