About Department
The Automobile Engineering provides in-depth knowledge of vehicle engineering, incorporating elements of mechanical, electrical, electronics, software, and safety engineering it is applied to the design, manufacture, and operation of motorcycles, cars, buses, trucks, etc. and their respective engineering subsystem. At Atmiya, Automobile Department was established in 2012 with an intake of 60 students. The Institute is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU), Ahmedabad. From 2021 Department of Automobile Engineering is a partof School of Diploma Studies under Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Atmiya University.
Courses offered in this program are designed such that students will have driving force towards the skill development part so far as application areas of the Automobile engineering are concerned. The students will be able to apply the fundamentals of Automobile engineering in the design and understanding of various automobile systems and technology in their modern form.
Automobile Engineering work involves activities like right from design / manufacturing to maintenance & Service. The automotive industry is that it is truly global. Automobile engineering is no longer just limited to working on bikes and cars. Today, an automobile engineer has to design new vehicles and work on improving existing ones, become part of research and development in order to determine solutions to various engineering challenges and even engage in production which also means designing and planning the latest production processes. The program of diploma in Automobile Engineering aims to create the engineers to undertake supervisory role in various Automobile Engineering fields such as Industries, Defenses, Repair, Maintenance & Service, Customization & Restoration, Organization (RTO, Railways, etc.), Design etc. and to create young entrepreneurs. The program provides in depth knowledge of Vehicle Engineering, incorporating elements of mechanical, electrical, electronics, software and safety engineering. This program will help students to be forward thinking, visionary and dynamic and they also will learn to think creatively and look for out of the box solutions. The department maintains a liaison with Industries. With the opening up of manufacturing plants by global players in various parts of the Gujarat Region and country, the increase in demand for automotive experts in the domestic and international markets, students of automobile engineering have a bright future ahead.
